In the present study, the methodology of the American philosopher, Charles Sanders Pierce, and its contribution to the approaches and research methods was considered by analyzing the contents of the available works on his philosophy and viewpoints. While this study suggests that Pierce's statements regarding method are related to speculative rhetoric in logic, the triple categories, and the types of reasoning, it also shows that Pierce in his philosophy speaks of three methods; the pragmatic, achieving philosophical categories, and methods to fixation of belief. The findings not only express the fundamentals of the methods approved by Pierce, but also show the impact of Pierce's pragmatic method on emergence of verbal and conceptual analysis approach, and the contribution of the method of 'acquiring the categories" to the field of phenomenology. Regarding fixation of belief, Pierce discusses four methods of tenacity, authority, priori, and the scientific method; and among them, only favors the scientific method. This method which consists of three abduction, inductive and deductive methods and is regarded by Pierce as the only method to approach the truth, due to research role in acquiring the truth, and along with the pragmatic method, has been contributing to development of the logical positivism approach. Because of its experimental approach to research along with methods of verbal analysis, logical analysis and phenomenology, this method while possessing the features of qualitative research, introduces Pierce's pragmatism as a basis for the mixed research method.
